Hospital Gala

Last weekend my husband and I attended a hospital gala in The Outer Banks of NC.  He is based out of VA Beach, but has recently opened an office in Nags Head to expand his business.  I am so proud of him.  I just had to tell you all about it.  He was one of the sponsors of the evening and we invited a table full of friends and clients to sit with us.  It was just such a fun evening.  Of course all the money raised will go back into the hospital funds which they desperately need. Now, back to the fun things women like to talk about when dressed up in a fancy evening gown for the night.

For make up, I started with clinique’s moisture surge moisturizer.  I couldn’t find my kiels so I used my old stand by. It’s always a good idea to start with a moisturizer that works for you.  I did not prime my face that evening.  I have dry skin and my make up usually does not slide around on my face.

For foundation I used MAC NC25 and I used a beauty blender to blend it out evenly.  Next, I used my Chanel brightener in Beige Tendre Light.  I have bad  no terrible dark circles under my eyes (especially the right side).  I used the Anastasia contouring kit for my bronzer in Fawn.  Then I used  MAC’s Pinch O’ Peach very lightly on the apple of my cheeks. Do you see a pattern here?  I am not sponsored by MAC, but I sure do like their products.

For eyes, I used MAC painterly as a base all over the lid.  Next, I used The Naked Basics palette for most of my eye look.  I used Venus (UD Naked Basic Palette) all over the lid and then under my brow bone to highlight. Then I used Naked 2 also from the NB palette in the center of the eye.  Lastly, I used Havana from the Anastasia contouring kit on the outer V and the crease,  Then I used a MAC fluffy brush to blend all the colors together.  For Mascara, I used Maybelline’s Falsies Mascara.  It is my all time favorite.  I have tried a lot of them and this is the one I always go back to.  High end, drug store, you name it, but Falsies does what it says and the price is right.  I used a black eyeliner from Clinique. My eyebrows are pretty non-existent.  They are thin and very light,  I can’t go out of the house without doing them.  I used Faint from the NB palette to fill in my brows. It is the best color for me.  Last but not least, I used MAC’s Verve lipstick.  I am not much of a lipstick wearer, but this is definitely my go to color when I do.

Next, I got into my gown, shoes, and jewelry.  My gown was a black halter full length dress with a slit up the right thigh. I purchased the dress from a speciality store called All the rage. It had a little bit of ruching in the center of the dress.  Honestly, it was very plain, but elegant.  That’s where the earrings played a huge part. Due to the halter, I didn’t need a necklace so I went a little bolder on the earrings.  They were rhinestone, dangly earrings.  The shoes were the showstopper.  I got them from Nordstrom.  They were silver, had a crisscross strap on top of the foot, as well as a horizontal strap at the toe with gems going across them.  However, the piece de resistance  – The 3″ silver heels with the zipper going down the back.  Now that is a sexy shoe.  I went more for beauty rather than comfort this time.  I had a great evening, but boy was I glad to get in the car and take those beautiful shoes off and get into some sweat pants.

I hope you enjoyed this kind of post.  I want you to get to know me better and on a more personal level and these kinds of posts help you learn more about me.  I would love to get to know you better.  Comment below and we can get a great conversation going. What is your go to make up look?  Any fancy evenings in your near future?

Yours Truly,

Jenn
