My 5 Favorite Benjamin Moore Grays

As a decorator, paint is a major player in my business.  It’s a quick and cheap way to change the look of a room. I’m partial to Benjamin Moore paint.  We just painted our family room Kendall Charcoal so I thought I would do a post on my 5 favorite Benjamin Moore grays. You will see this room in my fall home tour in September.  Even if you’re not building or remodeling a home right now, save this post for future reference.

Kendall Charcoal is a very dark color.  However, I have a ton of windows in my family room and it makes it feel more intimate and cozy.  We love hanging out in there now.  I can’t  believe how it pulled the room together and gave it a sophisticated look. It now has a purpose.  Our family room used to be so boring before.  Now we feel like it is styled and meant for us to hang out there.

Chelsea Gray is more of a medium tone.  I think it is a perfect color if you are looking to go bolder, but are not ready for something like Kendall Charcoal.  It can bring warmth and depth to a room without taking the risk of an ultra dark color.

Storm is a color I like to take through a whole house.  This cool and light neutral, is one I use often in my e-designs.  It is a perfect color to be used in homes as it makes a great neutral without being boring.  Accent colors also go very well with this color so you can use it as a base in bedrooms too.

Revere pewter is a light gray color with warm undertones and is great for open concept floor plans.  You really want to put this color on the wall and check it in multiple lighting situations to see how it looks.  It can look very different depending on the lighting.  Make sure it is giving you the color you envisioned before you paint the intended space with this color.

Harbor Gray, formerly known as Silver Chain, is one of the 42 popular America’s colors.  It is a soft neutral gray that I use a lot on beach homes because it has a little bit of a blue undertone.  If you’re looking for a similar color try Willow Creek or Cobblestone Path.

If you are looking for paint recommendations, furniture placement and decor ideas; check out my e-design services.  I am currently taking on clients for e-design.  I also opened my calendar in August for my Christmas styling services. Optimum weekends fill up quickly so if you’re interested book now.

I hope these tips were helpful.  Please share this post with someone struggling with paint choices.  Also later in the year I will have more info on painting tips, paint quizzes, and websites that everyone can use.   You can check me out on my Pinterest board Popular Paint Colors.

  1. I agree that it is best to check out some shades of gray in different light and times of day. I had to change my entire color scheme for our remodel after seeing how different my choices looked. I’m very happy with my decision now. Great advice. AC

    1. Connie,
I know it’s frustrating, but I’m so glad you changed your color palette before painting. I would love to know what color you used. I’m sure it is beautiful!
