Hey guys! Â I only have one more day of being on call for jury duty. Â That has been an interesting process. Â However, I’m glad it is coming to a close. Â Sorry I have been a little MIA. Â Starting in November I changed my posting schedule to 3x a week to get in all the holiday content. Â I knew I could do that through January. Â However, that really isn’t working in my schedule at this time. Â I am going to start posting on Wednesdays with some other content sprinkled in here and there when I have something important I want to share. Â Please join me on Wednesdays and share links with others you think might enjoy these posts. Â That is a huge help to me!
This is a great time to talk about if you feel your life is over scheduled. Â Are you constantly overwhelmed by your situation? Â Do you have a hard time balancing work and home life? Â Here are a couple of things I like to start off asking when discussing overwhelm and see if you are doing these things right from the beginning.
Do you have a plan for getting things done?
Do you have a cluttered home?
Do you have daily/morning/nightly routines?
Can you say no when you need to?
These questions are great in assessing if you are handling the stress of the day-to-day life situations. Â There is going to be stress and busy times. Â All of us are busy and tired. Â It’s how you deal with these situations that matter. Â Let’s talk about some strategies you can use to help with the overwhelming feelings.
You have to have down time to spend alone and with your family. Â I always give my husband a little time when he gets home to get changed and sit for a little while before I start in on the day’s activities and all he needs to “do” or “know.”
You have to be able to set boundaries. Â You need to have work boundaries and ones for home too. Â What set of rules will you follow? Â You have to learn how to balance your work and home life. Â Learning how to compartmentalize each one is difficult but being able to put the other one away when you are at the other place will really benefit you. If you had a bad day at work can you shake it off and be fully present when you get home with your family? Â That is the goal!
Schedule blocks of time to get more tasks done. If you use block scheduling you will have a better chance of getting more done because you are not using your time for so many transitions.  I love batching/blocking off my schedule.  You can read the post I did about batching my schedule.  If you want to know what a day in the life of a blogger is like you can also check that post out.
Limit your screen time.  I know I can get caught up in the internet and social media if I don’t watch my time.  If this is a problem for you, set a timer when checking emails or working on your social media content.  Try to beat your timer getting all your work done.  This can save you loads of wasted time.
Just respect time in general. Â Everyone’s time is valuable. You can’t go around and say I have no time to get anything done if you’re on Netflix binge watching tv for four hours. Â Of course you are going to feel overwhelmed and feel like you need more hours in the day. Â I’m not saying never take a break or relax, but watch your priorities and do those things first.
I hope this post was helpful. Â If you are looking for more content I post more frequently on Instagram, Pinterest, and Facebook. Â Also, please share this post if you think someone you know would like it too. Â Have a great rest of your week!
